Kira Salak

Kira Salak has won the PEN award for journalism and appeared five times in Best American Travel Writing. A National Geographic Emerging Explorer and contributing writer for National Geographic Adventure magazine, she was the first woman to traverse Papua New Guinea, and has traveled solo to almost every continent. Her two non-fiction books include the New York Times Notable Book Four Corners: One Woman’s Solo Journey into the Heart of Papua New Guinea. She holds a Ph.D. in English and her fiction has appeared in Best New American Voices and other publications. Kira’s debut novel, The White Mary, was published in 2008.
